Day 15 of The November Project
maybe next year
When I first wanted to become a doctor in the 1st grade, my parents (or it could've been my grandma, I'm not sure) told me that Johns Hopkins had the best medical school. Being the most competitive person I know, I knew I had to end up at JHU.
I remember I would always tell all the adults,
I'm going to graduate from Johns Hopkins and become a doctor!
Fast-forward 17 years, and here I am with an ongoing application for a Master's degree program at the school I once wanted to study medicine.
I planned to come to DC when I was at my lowest of the lows, and that was before I even attempted applying for full-time, in-person Master's programs. However, as I opened up my application a week (or 2) before coming here, I couldn't leave without visiting Johns Hopkins.
Now that I've visited, I want to be there next year, at this time. I'm grateful that I got a boost of motivation to spend more time and work harder on my statement of purpose.
dolphins

When my mom was pregnant with me, my dad had a dream:
A dolphin (or some kind of whale) was crying, stuck in a small body of water, saying how it wanted to go out to the ocean. Then, it eventually did without a second look back at my dad.
My dad's been telling me this story for as long as I can remember.
Probably because of this, I've loved dolphins, and I got to see them today at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. It was no fancy Sea World show I saw 14-15 years ago, but just looking at them play around made me smile so much.
woodfire pizzas

I love woodfire-baked pizzas – like the Italian kind.
I also love love love stracciatella cheese (the insides of burrata).
When I was doing my food research before this trip, I saw a woodfire-baked pizza place that puts house-made stracciatella cheese on all their pizzas, so of course I had to go.
My friend, who willingly went to Baltimore with me, was very x100 kind enough to go to Stracci Pizza with me, instead of recovering from the week, so we (or I did, at least) thoroughly enjoyed everything. I hate how I'm so bad at describing the tastes of the best bites, but all I can say is that the caponata, the stracciatella, and the pizza dough were all so, so good, and I left very happy and full.
See you tomorrow,
Ael
